Published Updated 14 min readEject Team

Where to click to cancel Squarespace, Wix, Webflow, and Framer, what happens to your site and domain, and who refunds what (14 days, or 7 for Framer).

Cancellation and refund rules verified on October 31, 2026 from Squarespace Help, Wix Help, Webflow Help, and Framer's help center. Links are in Sources.

How do you cancel a website builder subscription without losing your domain?

Move first. Cancel last. Cancelling the site plan does not cancel a domain you bought from Squarespace or Wix. The site goes offline, or reverts to a free address, when the paid period ends. A refund is only for a new purchase, and only inside that builder's window.

How do you cancel a Squarespace subscription?

Cancel your website subscription, last updated October 15, 2026, says to cancel from the Billing panel:

  1. Open Billing for the site.
  2. Under Subscriptions, click the plan.
  3. Click Cancel subscription.
  4. On an annual plan inside the refund window, choose "Retain Access" to keep the site until the cycle ends, or "Get Refund Immediately" to end service now and get a refund.
  5. Review the Cancellation details.
  6. Pick a reason.
  7. Review the other subscriptions.
  8. Click Cancel subscription.

A monthly plan stops at the end of the billing cycle. An annual plan also stops at the end of the cycle, unless it is refunded inside the window. When the site is cancelled, a "Website expired" message appears on all its domains.

Cancelling preserves the data so you can reactivate later. After the site expires you can still log in to manage billing, domains, contacts, past orders, and Import & export content. Reactivate your site, updated October 12, 2026, says you reactivate an expired site by logging in and resubscribing. Domains, Google Workspace, Email Campaigns, Acuity, and Digital Products are billed separately and are not reactivated with the site. A legacy pricing plan can't be reactivated after you cancel.

Store products and customer subscriptions are cancelled with the website.

Website refund policy, updated May 21, 2026, gives a full refund for an annual website subscription cancelled within 14 days of purchase. You request it with a refund request form. There is no refund for an annual plan cancelled after 14 days, for a monthly plan, or for a renewal payment. Squarespace says, "Cancel before the renewal date." If you cancel an annual plan within 14 days and the plan included a free domain, the cost of that domain is deducted from the refund. A Mobile Start plan bought in the app is refunded through Apple.

Refund policies for your Squarespace subscriptions, updated October 20, 2026, says every subscription is billed on its own and auto-renews. You cancel each one on its own. Email Campaigns and Getty Images are non-refundable. A refund takes 3 to 10 business days to appear.

These stay active and keep billing after you cancel the website: Domains, Google Workspace, Acuity Scheduling, and Email Campaigns. Automated campaigns stop when the site goes offline. You can still export mailing lists.

What to do with your domain if you cancel your website, updated May 1, 2025, says Squarespace domains don't expire when you cancel the website, and they continue to auto-renew. You can keep the domain with Squarespace. It stays linked to the cancelled site until you move it or point it. You can also move it to another Squarespace site before you cancel, transfer it away before you cancel, or turn off auto-renew so it expires at the end of its term.

How do you cancel a Wix subscription?

Canceling a Wix Premium or Studio Plan says:

  1. Open Premium Subscriptions.
  2. Click the More Actions icon next to the plan.
  3. Click Cancel Plan.
  4. Click Cancel Now.

The plan stays active until the end of the period. Then the site reverts to the free Wix URL (siteprefix.wixsite.com/siteaddress) with Wix ads. Cancelling does not delete the site.

Wix says the site plan "may renew up to 3 weeks before the expiration date." Cancelling turns off auto-renewal.

The 14-day money-back is for a first-time purchase. Cancelling inside those 14 days ends the plan immediately and refunds it in full. To keep the plan until the end of the term, wait until the 14 days are over before you cancel. The guarantee is not for renewals.

Cancelling the site plan does not cancel a domain, business email, or an app subscription. Cancel those separately.

Requesting a Refund for a Premium or Studio Plan says the 14-day guarantee covers new plans, both yearly and monthly. It does not cover renewals or upgrades. The refund goes to the original payment method. Wix says to "allow up to 45 business days." Domains have no 14-day money-back guarantee. To drop a domain, turn off auto-renew and it expires on the renewal date.

Closing Your Wix Account says to cancel each subscription on its own: the site plan, the domain, business email, and any app. For a domain, turn off auto-renew, or transfer it. The transfer path is Domains, then Domain Actions, then "Transfer away from Wix." The domain stays registered until it expires, and it can be retrieved in the Redemption Period.

How do you cancel a Webflow site plan?

Webflow Refund Policy, updated September 22, 2026, says a new Site plan and a new Workspace plan are fully refundable if you cancel and request the refund within 14 days of the initial purchase. That covers monthly and annual plans. Renewals are not refundable. An annual plan sends a reminder at least 7 days before renewal. Add-ons and seats are not refundable. Cancelling an add-on leaves its remaining balance as account credit, and that credit can't be refunded. Downgrading to the free Starter plan gives no refund or credit for unused time.

Site plans and Workspace plans are billed separately and cancelled in different places. Cancelling one does not cancel the other. Leaving entirely means you cancel both.

Cancel the Site plan under Site settings, then Plans. Downgrade to the free Starter Site plan. At the end of the period, custom domains are removed and the site is unpublished from its custom domain and its webflow.io subdomain. The project stays in the Workspace. Immediate cancellation gives no credit and takes the site offline right away.

Cancel the Workspace plan under Workspace settings, then Plans, then Downgrade to Starter. Remove all team members and seats first. Sites that have their own active Site plans stay live. A user can have only one Starter Workspace.

Downgrade or cancel your Site plan, updated October 5, 2026, says to remove add-ons first, and to disable Ecommerce checkout first. Then:

  1. Open Site settings, then Plans, then the Website tab.
  2. Click Downgrade to Starter.
  3. Click Continue to downgrade.
  4. Optionally give a reason.
  5. Click Downgrade to Starter.

A banner shows when the downgrade takes effect. Contact Support to undo it.

Downgrade or cancel your Workspace plan, updated September 29, 2026, says: Plans, then Downgrade to Starter, then Downgrade Workspace plan.

Custom domains are removed from the site at the end of the period.

How do you cancel a Framer subscription?

Cancel your Framer subscription, updated October 22, 2026, says:

  1. Open workspace settings.
  2. Open the Billing tab.
  3. Click the three-dot menu next to the site.
  4. Click Cancel Plan.
  5. Leave feedback and confirm.

Benefits stay active until the end of the billing cycle. Editor subscriptions end automatically at the end of the cycle once the last site subscription is cancelled. Cancelling does not automatically qualify for a refund. There is no refund for unused time. A downgrade turns unused value into account credit.

Refund policy, updated September 15, 2026, refunds you if you cancel within 7 days of the initial purchase. Residents of the EU and Turkey have 14 days. Used usage-based add-ons are non-refundable. If you cancel the site plan, attached add-ons stay active until the end of the period and end with it. There is no credit for them.

Subscriptions and charges, updated October 26, 2026, says subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel before the next renewal date.

Check where your domain is registered before you cancel.

Cancel in the right order

  1. Find the renewal date. Squarespace says, "Cancel before the renewal date." A Wix site plan "may renew up to 3 weeks before the expiration date." Webflow sends a reminder at least 7 days before an annual renewal, and renewals are not refundable. Framer renews automatically unless you cancel before the next renewal date.
  2. Export what you can. What each builder lets you take is in Can you export your website?.
  3. Put the new site live somewhere you control. What can be free after you leave is in A website without a monthly fee. Cloudflare Pages says, "All plans come with unlimited sites, seats, requests, and bandwidth."
  4. Point the domain at the new site.
  5. Cancel the site plan.
  6. Then cancel or transfer the extras: a domain, email, an app, a Workspace plan, or editors.
