Squarespace Price Increase 2026: What You Pay at Renewal

Published Updated 12 min readEject Team

Squarespace raised annual Basic, Core, and Plus prices in 2026. US annual plans now cost $228 to $1,188 a year. See when you pay the new price.

Prices and policies below were checked on October 22, 2026. Links are in Sources.

Did Squarespace raise prices in 2026?

Yes. In July 2026, published US prices went up for Basic, Core, and Plus. Advanced did not change on annual billing. Monthly Basic and monthly Advanced did not change either.

PetaPixel, July 17, 2026, reported the annual-billing changes. Those prices are shown per month, and the year is paid up front. Basic went from $16 to $19 a month. PetaPixel calls that a 19 percent increase, and $3 more a month. Core went from $23 to $29 a month, a 26 percent increase. PetaPixel says that is an extra $72 a year. Plus went from $39 a month ($468 a year) to $588 a year. PetaPixel calls that 26 percent. The gap is $10 a month, or $120 over the year. Advanced stayed at $99 a month, so the yearly total stays $1,188.

On monthly billing, PetaPixel says Basic and Advanced did not change. Core went from $36 to $39, which it calls an 8 percent increase. That gap is $3 a month, or $36 over 12 months. Plus went from $56 to $65, which it calls 16 percent. That gap is $9 a month, or $108 over 12 months.

PetaPixel says Squarespace seemingly did not publish a specific memo about the change, and emailed customers instead. Fstoppers, July 19, 2026, reports no public press release or formal announcement, and the same annual Basic and Core changes: Basic from $16 to $19 a month (19 percent) and Core from $23 to $29 (26 percent). Fstoppers does not give Plus or monthly figures.

PricingSaaS compared Squarespace pricing-page captures from July 6 and July 13, 2026. It says Basic rose from $16 to $19 a month, Core from $23 to $29, and Plus by $10 a month ($468 to $588 a year), and that Advanced stayed at $99. Its latest capture, November 2, 2026, still lists the same four annual prices. That page also lists earlier 2026 pricing-page edits, including decreases in May and June, before this increase.

Your own number can differ from the table. PetaPixel says people start from different prices, including first-year promos and other discounts. Read the invoice, not a blog table. What each alternative costs per year, and whether you can take the site with you, is in Squarespace alternatives.

US annual billing, old and new

Per year is the per-month annual price times 12. New yearly totals also match Squarespace's pricing.txt USD annual totals, checked October 22, 2026. That file says it was last updated October 5, 2026.

US monthly billing, old and new

PetaPixel did not print a separate old dollar amount for monthly Basic or Advanced. It said those two did not change. The "new" prices are Squarespace's current US monthly prices.

When existing subscribers pay the new price

Squarespace Help, Manage automatic subscription renewals, says: "If you got an email about a price increase for your renewal, you'll pay the updated price on your next scheduled renewal date. You won't be charged on the "effective date" listed in the email."

The same page says: "We periodically adjust our plans and pricing as we continue to improve our service." The help page was last updated October 21, 2026.

How do I check my renewal price?

The published table is not your invoice. Squarespace's steps, from the same renewals article:

  1. Open the Billing panel.
  2. Under Subscriptions, click Website or Store, depending on the billing plan.
  3. The Payment due date is your next renewal date.

If you are on a legacy plan, two limits matter. Cancel your website subscription says: "If you're on a legacy pricing plan, you can't reactivate that same plan after canceling, but you can choose from our current plans." Change your site's billing plan and cycle says that on a Legacy plan you can't downgrade to a lower tier. You can upgrade to a current plan.

Three honest options:

  • Renew. You keep the site. You pay the price on the next scheduled renewal date.
  • Switch the billing cycle. Squarespace lets you change the cycle. If you only change the cycle, the renewal date moves based on the cycle you choose. The help page also says the new renewal date is the day you change the cycle, and the subscription is set to renew automatically. Switching is not a way to skip a charge.
  • Move a simple site before the renewal date. The order is in How to leave Squarespace. Cancel the website plan before the renewal date if you want to avoid that charge. Renewal payments are not refunded.

How much does a Squarespace renewal cost, and should I renew?

It depends on your plan and what the site does. As of October 22, 2026, Squarespace website plans cost $228 to $1,188 a year on annual billing (Core is $348), and the domain and Google Workspace email renew separately. Annual plans get a reminder email 15 days before renewal, unless you pay by SEPA. If the site is simple and you mostly pay to keep it online, moving before the charge saves the most. If you sell products, memberships or courses, or rely on Acuity Scheduling, staying on Squarespace may be better.

The renewal email from Squarespace is the moment most people do the math on their website for the first time all year. This page is that math: what each plan costs on renewal, which extras renew on their own, when the charge actually lands, and what your options are if you want out.

It's written for simple sites: portfolios, landing pages and small-business brochure sites. If you sell products, run memberships or courses, or rely on Squarespace Scheduling, those features are part of your bill and part of the decision.

What your website plan costs at renewal

These are the current US prices, from the comparison table on squarespace.com/pricing and the USD rows in pricing.txt, both opened October 22, 2026. They match the "new" columns above.

PlanAnnual billing (per month)Monthly billingPer year on annualPer year on monthly
Basic$19$25$228$300
Core$29$39$348$468
Plus$16 less than monthly$65$588$780
Advanced$99$139$1,188$1,668

If you are on an older plan, your Billing panel can show a different price. PetaPixel's note on promo and discount starting prices is above.

Did Squarespace raise domain prices?

Squarespace's renewals article says domain registries have raised wholesale prices for certain extensions, "so we're increasing the renewal price for Squarespace-registered .xyz, .com, .net, and .org domains."

If you got an email with the subject line Update to Your Squarespace Domain Renewal Price, you can extend the registration before the deadline in that email. Squarespace says that locks the domain at the current price until the extension ends. If you do nothing, the domain renews at the new price. The help page does not list the new dollar amounts.

The charge date is separate from the website plan. Change your site's billing plan and cycle says Squarespace charges the card 15 days before the domain renewal date, and emails the Owner and Admin domain contacts 15 days before that charge.

The extras that renew separately

Squarespace says its subscriptions are independent, and "have their own billing cycle and invoice." The ones that matter for a simple site:

  • Your domain. Annual plans include "one (1) year of free domain registration." After that, the domain "will renew at our standard rate" (pricing page). The domain price increase is in the section above. Separately, Squarespace's help center describes converting a legacy domain into "a $20 USD annual subscription" when you switch that site to monthly billing (Change billing plan and cycle). That $20 line is about keeping a legacy domain, not the new .com renewal rate. What a .com costs to renew at Squarespace, Wix, Webflow, and Framer is in Domain renewal cost.
  • Google Workspace email. Core and above include one Google Workspace account "free for the first year." After that it "will renew at the standard annual or monthly rate" (pricing page).
  • Email Campaigns, Acuity Scheduling, Digital Products. These are separate subscriptions that renew on their own cycles (renewals article).

Two takeaways:

  1. 15 days isn't enough time to rebuild a site. If that reminder is your trigger, you'll probably renew for another year.
  2. Monthly subscribers never get a natural deadline. You can leave any month, but nothing will nudge you to.

Refunds: why timing matters

Squarespace's website refund policy:

  • Full refund for annual plans cancelled within 14 days of purchase. If you got a free domain, its cost is deducted.
  • No refunds for annual plans after 14 days, for monthly plans, or for renewal payments: "Cancel before the renewal date to avoid being charged."

So the only clean exit from an annual plan is before it renews.

If you decide to leave: the safe order

Squarespace's export is limited. It creates a WordPress .xml file of some content, and "many features rely on our platform's JavaScript and CSS, so some content doesn't export" (Export your site content). For a simple site, a rebuild is usually cleaner. What else you can take with you (products, form submissions, contacts, mailing lists, images, files, and DNS records) is in How to leave Squarespace. If the new host is Cloudflare, Move a Squarespace site to Cloudflare covers Pages, nameservers, and an optional registrar transfer.

  1. Find your renewal date: Billing panel → Subscriptions → Website → Payment due date. Note your domain's date too.
  2. Rebuild the pages as a small static site (yourself with an AI assistant, or with us).
  3. Recreate forms and test them.
  4. Point your domain at the new host while Squarespace is still active.
  5. Cancel the website subscription: Billing → Subscriptions → your plan → Cancel subscription. Outside the refund window, the site stays online until the billing cycle ends (Cancel your website subscription).
  6. Decide about the domain. Cancelling the site does not cancel the domain. "Your domain subscription stays active." You can keep it there, manage DNS, or transfer it.

After cancellation, visitors to the old Squarespace address see "Website expired". Since your domain already points to the new site, your real visitors never see that.

When to stay on Squarespace

  • You sell products, memberships or courses through Squarespace.
  • You edit often and like the editor.
  • You use Acuity Scheduling or Email Campaigns heavily and want it all in one place.

Set a renewal alert, move before you're charged

Don't wait for the 15-day email, and if you're on monthly billing, don't wait at all. Put your renewal date in your calendar with a reminder 45 days before. Or paste the billing email into Renewal Watch. It reads the date from that text.

Did Squarespace raise domain prices? Squarespace says it is increasing the renewal price for Squarespace-registered .xyz, .com, .net, and .org domains because registries raised wholesale prices.
