What are the alternatives to Webflow?
It depends on the site and on whether you want another subscription. Webflow Basic is $180 a year on yearly billing, code export is on a paid Workspace plan and leaves out the CMS, and a custom domain is not on the free Starter site plan. For a small portfolio or brochure site, Carrd is the cheap one-page builder, WordPress and Silex are free software, Webstudio is an open-source visual builder, and a static site you host yourself is the one that ends the renewal. Framer Basic costs less than Webflow Basic per year. Squarespace Basic and Wix Light cost more, and they still keep most of the site on their platform.
This page is the cost and ownership comparison for 2026. The order of operations for leaving, including the November 16, 2026 pricing change, is in How to leave Webflow. The Site plan and Workspace bill is in Webflow pricing. The move itself is at Move a Webflow site.
What does a small site cost?
"Small site" here means a portfolio, landing page, or a few business pages. Not a store, a membership area, or a large CMS. Domain registration is a separate bill on every row, except where a plan includes the first year.
| Option | Small-site cost | Export or own the code? | Who it fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Webflow Basic | $180/yr | Paid Workspace plan only. CMS is not in the zip. | You still design in Webflow |
| Framer Basic | $120/yr | No | You design in Framer |
| Squarespace Basic | $228/yr in the US | Partial WordPress file | One editor, and you can live without the design |
| Wix Light | $204/yr on Wix's USD article | No | You want Wix's editor |
| WordPress, self-hosted | Software $0 | Yes, on your host | You will run hosting |
| Carrd Pro Standard | $19/yr | Files only on Pro Plus | A one-page site on your domain |
| Webstudio | $180/yr on cloud, or export | Yes | An open-source visual builder |
| Silex | Software $0 | Yes. HTML and CSS. | A free static builder |
| Files you own | Eject $99 once, then $0 hosting | Yes | Stop the Webflow renewal |
Yearly totals for Webflow, Framer, and Webstudio's cloud plan are 12 times the monthly price those pages show for yearly billing. Squarespace's $228 is the annual total printed in its USD pricing file, which is also 12 times $19. Wix's $204 is 12 times the $17 a month in Wix's own USD pricing article. Carrd's $19 is the yearly price on its plan page, not 12 times a monthly price. Wix's plans page says prices and currency vary by location, so the purchase page is the number that matters for Wix. Squarespace's pricing file lists 27 currencies, so a non-US invoice will not match the US row.
Can I use Webflow for free?
Yes, on the Starter site plan. webflow.com/pricing lists Starter as free, for exploring and experimenting. It publishes to a webflow.io domain and includes 2 static pages, 1 GB of bandwidth, 50 form submissions, and a free Starter Workspace. The same page says a paid Site plan is required to publish to a custom domain. Basic is the plan that lists a custom domain.
The free Starter Workspace does not include code export. Webflow's help center says export is on paid Workspace plans, and that Site plans do not include it.
Does Webflow cost money?
A site on your own domain does. On webflow.com/pricing, Basic is the plan "for simple sites that don't need a CMS." It is $15 a month billed yearly, which is $180 for the year, and it includes a free Starter Workspace. Webflow says prices are in USD, per site, plus tax. The May 2026 pricing update says Basic is $15 a month on yearly billing or $25 a month on monthly billing. Twelve months at $25 is $300.
Premium is the plan "for content-rich sites with robust CMS and traffic needs." It is $25 a month billed yearly, which is $300 for the year. The same update says the CMS plan price is $25 a month on yearly billing or $39 a month on monthly billing, and the site moves to Premium. Twelve months at $39 is $468. Premium is more than a simple brochure site needs.
Code export is real, and it is a Workspace feature. Webflow's code export article says export of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and assets is on paid Workspace plans, and that Site plans do not include it. CMS content, user accounts, ecommerce, code components and their functionality, localization, password protection, site search, and form processing are not in the export. The pricing page says dynamic content, meaning CMS items and pages, can't be exported. After export, Webflow says you do not have to keep a Webflow plan for the files to work on your own server.
A paid Workspace plan is a separate bill. On the pricing page, Core is $19 a month billed yearly, which is $228 for the year, and the Core card lists code export. Freelancer is $16 a month billed yearly, which is $192 for the year. Agency is $35 a month billed yearly, which is $420 for the year. The help center's rule is the paid Workspace plan, not the Site plan.
What is the Webflow price increase in 2026?
Webflow's May 2026 update says Basic's price increases to $15 a month on yearly billing or $25 a month on monthly billing. CMS increases to $25 a month on yearly billing or $39 a month on monthly billing, and the site moves to Premium. Business decreases to those same Premium prices, and included bandwidth drops from 100 GB to 50 GB. Ecommerce site plans are unchanged.
The date that still matters for some accounts is November 16, 2026. The same help page says that, starting that date, Site plan changes go into effect for existing sites in a Freelancer or Agency Workspace, or sites on legacy discounts from 2022 or earlier, at the next renewal or billable change. It also says that switching from monthly to yearly billing before the change locks the current plan for one more year. Who cancels what, and in which order, is in How to leave Webflow. This page does not repeat those steps.
Framer
On framer.com/pricing, with yearly billing selected, the free plan is $0. Basic is $10 a month, which is $120 for the year. Pro is $30 a month, which is $360 for the year. The page says prices are monthly and billed on the cycle you choose at checkout. It did not show a separate month-to-month dollar amount, so that rate is not listed here. A complimentary domain is included on yearly billing. An extra editor is $20 a month, and a content editor is $10.
Framer's pricing FAQ says a custom domain requires a paid plan. There is no export. Framer's help center says Framer does not offer HTML export for self-hosting, and that you cannot download the published site as HTML files. A longer price list is on Framer alternatives.
Framer Basic costs less per year than Webflow Basic. You still pay a builder, and you still do not get the files. A Webflow project still has to be rebuilt there.
Squarespace
Squarespace's pricing.txt lists US Basic at $25 a month on monthly billing, $19 a month on annual billing, and $228 for the year. The file describes Basic as suitable for personal sites, portfolios, and simple business pages, and says annual Basic includes a custom domain free for one year. US Core is $348 for the year. The file lists 27 currencies.
The export is a WordPress file of some of the content. Squarespace's help center says: "You can export certain content from your Squarespace site into an .xml file. Many features rely on our platform's JavaScript and CSS, so some content doesn't export." Portfolio pages, store pages, style settings, and custom CSS are on the list of things that do not export. The design stays on Squarespace. A longer price list is on Squarespace alternatives.
Squarespace fits if you like that editor and you do not need the files. US Basic costs more per year than Webflow Basic.
Wix
Wix's plans page says: "Prices and currency vary by location. USD prices displayed for reference only. Displayed prices are for yearly subscriptions, paid in full at the time of purchase." The final price is on the purchase page.
Wix's own article, How much is a Wix website?, lists a free plan at $0 on a Wix subdomain, then yearly prices paid in full: Light $17 a month, Core $29, Business $39, Business Elite $159. Light is the plan that adds a custom domain, free for one year. Light for a year is 12 × $17, which is $204. More of the Wix bill is on Wix vs self-hosted.
You cannot move the site off Wix. Wix's help center says the site "needs to be hosted and operated on Wix's servers" and that "the SaaS architecture does not support external hosting." The content is yours. The pages are not a portable site.
Wix fits if you want that editor and you accept the lock-in. On the USD yearly figures, Light costs more than Webflow Basic.
Is WordPress cheaper than Webflow?
The WordPress software is free, so the software is cheaper than Webflow Basic at $180 a year. wordpress.org/download offers the download for anyone getting their own hosting and domain, and lists Free and Open among the things that come with it. The license page says the software is released under GPLv2 or later. The download page recommends PHP 8.3 or greater and MySQL 8.0 or MariaDB 10.11 or greater. It does not publish one hosting price, so this page does not invent one.
Self-hosted means the files sit on a host you choose. You can edit them, move them, and back them up. That is the ownership difference with a Webflow site you have not exported. You also take on updates, PHP, and the database. For a page that almost never changes, that is more machine than you need. For a blog or a site you want to edit in a CMS, it is the usual open-source answer. Squarespace's .xml file is meant to import to WordPress. Webflow's code export is HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, not a WordPress file.
WordPress.com, the hosted service, is a different product with its own plans. This row is self-hosted WordPress.
Carrd
Carrd is the cheap end of the list, and it is built for one-page sites. The homepage says you can build up to three sites for free, and it lists custom domains under Go Pro.
From Carrd's Pro plans:
- Pro Lite is $9 a year. The page says it is for people who don't use custom domains. Custom domains are not in its feature list.
- Pro Standard is $19 a year. It includes custom domains, forms, and embeds, for up to 10 sites.
- Pro Plus is $30 a year more than Pro Standard. It adds a download of the unminified HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and images. The page says that download excludes server-side code.
Carrd fits a one-page site on your own domain at $19 a year. It does not fit a multi-page Webflow site, and you do not get the files unless you pay for Pro Plus.
What is an open-source Webflow alternative?
Two of them publish a license you can read. Neither one imports a Webflow project file on the pages checked for this post.
Webstudio's FAQ says Webstudio Builder is open source under the AGPL, and that use without modifications is free. The platform around it is open core. The license file is the GNU Affero General Public License.
Self-hosting docs say you can export a project as a static site (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and images) or as a JavaScript app, and host that yourself. They also say self-hosting the builder in production is not recommended. A static export does not include dynamic pages, redirects, or a managed form endpoint.
On webstudio.is/pricing, the free cloud plan uses a wstd.io subdomain. The next plan is $15 a month billed yearly, which is $180 for the year, and it includes unlimited sites on custom domains. The same page says the Pro tier includes 100,000 monthly page views, and extra views are $20 per 100,000. The pricing page also lists "Paste from Webflow." The self-hosting docs describe exporting a project you built in Webstudio. They do not describe opening a Webflow site file.
Silex is a free visual builder for static sites. The repository license is the GNU Affero General Public License. The README says Silex is free software, with no subscription and no premium tier, and that you design visually, export HTML and CSS, and host anywhere. The online editor at v3.silex.me is free and requires a GitLab account for storage. The desktop app is marked alpha. The README does not describe a Webflow import.
Webstudio is the open-source builder with a paid cloud plan and a static export. Silex is the free AGPL builder whose published price is zero. You rebuild the pages in either one, then you can keep the files.
A static or Next.js site you own
This is the path that ends the builder bill. Next.js is released under the MIT license, which grants use free of charge. Cloudflare Pages says all plans come with unlimited sites, seats, requests, and bandwidth, and that you can start building for free. The limits page says the free plan includes 500 builds per month, and that an account can have 100 Pages projects. For a portfolio or brochure site, hosting is $0 a year. The domain is the remaining bill.
Someone still has to rebuild the parts Webflow will not export. CMS items, ecommerce, and forms are in that group. A simple static site can start from the code export if you have a paid Workspace plan. You can also rebuild the pages yourself with an AI chatbot, or have it done once. Eject's automated move is a $99 one-time fee for a simple site of about 10 pages. You own the code. After that you edit by asking ChatGPT or any free AI chatbot. The old site stays live until you switch the domain. Stores, member logins, and a large CMS are out of scope. Custom work has no public price.
Run your Webflow plan in the renewal savings calculator, or start at Move a Webflow site.
Is Framer cheaper than Webflow?
For a simple site on yearly billing, Framer Basic is $120 a year and Webflow Basic is $180. Framer Basic is cheaper. Framer Pro, at $360, costs more than Webflow Basic and more than Webflow Premium's $25 a month billed yearly ($300 for the year).
The ownership difference is the export. Framer has none. Webflow will give you HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and assets, only on a paid Workspace plan, and without CMS content. Neither one imports the other's project.
Stay on Webflow if you design there every week and you use the CMS. Move toward Framer only if you want that editor. If the goal is to stop paying a builder, neither subscription does that.
Webflow vs Squarespace
For a simple site on yearly billing, Webflow Basic is $180 a year and US Squarespace Basic is $228. Squarespace costs more. Webflow Basic on monthly billing is $25 a month, which is $300 for the year, more than Squarespace's annual total.
The ownership difference is the export. Squarespace gives you a WordPress file of some content, without portfolio pages or the design. Webflow will give you HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and assets, only on a paid Workspace plan, and without CMS content. A Webflow project still has to be rebuilt in Squarespace.
Stay on Webflow if you want a code zip and you will pay for a Workspace plan. Move toward Squarespace only if you want that editor. If the goal is to stop paying a builder, neither subscription does that.
Webflow vs Wix
On Wix's USD yearly figures, Light is $204 a year, against $180 for Webflow Basic. Your Wix price can differ: the plans page says prices and currency vary by location.
Wix requires its own servers. Webflow's export is a zip of the pages, on a paid Workspace plan, without the CMS. Switching from one to the other is a rebuild either way. It is worth it if you prefer Wix's editor. On the USD yearly figures, Light costs more than Webflow Basic, and the code stays on Wix.
What are the best Webflow alternatives?
It depends on the site. "Best" is the wrong word for a store or a large CMS, which should stay on a platform built for that. For a small brochure site, the split people ask about is the yearly bill and whether you can take the code.
Carrd Pro Standard is the cheap builder, at $19 a year, if the site is one page. WordPress and Silex are the free software. Webstudio is the open-source visual builder, at $180 a year on its cloud plan, or as an export you host. A static site on Cloudflare Pages is $0 a year for hosting after the rebuild. Framer, Squarespace, and Wix are other hosted editors. Framer Basic is cheaper than Webflow Basic. Squarespace Basic and Wix Light cost more on the figures above, and the design stays on their platforms.
When you should stay on Webflow
- You design in Webflow most weeks, or the site depends on a CMS the export will not include.
- You run a store. Webflow's May 2026 update says nothing is changing for the Ecommerce site plans.
- You need localization, site search, password protection, or form processing that the export leaves behind.
- A paid Workspace plan, on top of the Site plan, is still cheaper for your team than the time to rebuild.
Webflow is good at those jobs. This comparison is for a site that has not changed in months and is still renewing.
If Webflow feels too expensive
Price the plan you actually have. Basic at $180 a year on yearly billing is less than US Squarespace Basic and Wix Light on the figures above, and more than Framer Basic. Monthly Basic for 12 months is $300. Premium at $25 a month billed yearly is also $300. A paid Workspace plan is extra if you want the zip: Core is $228 for the year on yearly billing.
The 2026 increase is the move to those Site plan prices. For a Freelancer or Agency Workspace, or a legacy discount from 2022 or earlier, Webflow says that price arrives at the next renewal or billable change on or after November 16, 2026. The detail is in How to leave Webflow.
Carrd at $19 a year is the cheaper builder if the site is one page. A static host at $0, after a one-time rebuild, is the cheaper option if the site is a few pages and you want the files.
Have the new site live before the renewal, then cancel. The sequence is in How to leave Webflow.

Where to go next
The automated move is a $99 one-time fee for a simple site of about 10 pages. Custom work has no public price. See renewal watch or contact us.
